Wedding | The Pavilion – Broadstairs | Leanne & Stephen
“So we’ve had our official wedding photos back from Kate Hennessy and I am blown away…
What a special service you have done us, Kate, I shall treasure them forever. You and your team have such a skill, a million thank yous – more official thank yous to follow… Everyone said how fun and great you all were. It obviously pays off to book a team of people who are all: a) fantastic at what they do and; b) all such good mates so you work together! Just a fantastic job and you are all soooo funny and lovely jubbly. Thank you for all your hard work!”
In case I haven’t already mentioned (no chance!)… Leanne Jones is an Olivier Award-winning actress who married her lovely partner, Stephen, in church this July followed by a reception at The Pavilion, Broadstairs, Kent, right on the beach.
Their wedding had a distinctly nostalgic British ‘days-gone-by’ feel, which combined old-time musical hall with traditional seaside summer holiday. From buckets and spades and a good old-fashioned (in a cool way!) entertainer for the children, through to a vintage trio, toastmaster and an incredibly-moving performance from a renowned local male voice choir, they laid on an elegantly classic vintage affair. It had all the atmospheric excitement and community feel of a British street-party, especially since Leanne and her dad walked to church through the streets which, of course, invited interested onlookers and well wishes from members of the general public!
Leanne had celebrity hairstylist, Carl Bembridge, to create her vintage up-do. She and Stephen had an extremely old open-top car in which to enjoy the sunny weather on their way to their reception and a Bluebird coach for their guests, which was tricky to photograph in the narrow streets of Broadstairs!
Leanne’s dress was suitably 1950s and her blue-infused bouquet included decorative elements to commemorate her late mum, who would no doubt have been blown away by the award-winning actress, loving mummy, kind friend and beautiful bride that Leanne has become. Stephen was just as dashing in his suit with personalised shirt cuffs and poignant cufflinks, whilst their two boys certainly had the cute factor in their shorts and bow-ties!
The couple had a postcard stand as an alternative to a guest book, personalised jars of jam for their favours and also hired a very amusing silhouette artist to wow everyone with his paper-cut profiles of the guests! Following private lessons, Leanne and Stephen had a choreographed first dance (totally appropriate for Leanne’s West End background), which really impressed the crowds! I was really pleased to work alongside with my pal Rosie who filmed the day! Thanks go to our assistants, Amanda and Ben, for their efforts too! We had the best time!
I have regularly photographed Leanne’s family and was honoured to capture their Pavilion Broadstairs wedding! It was authentic yet theatrical, old-fashioned yet so very fresh!
