“We were so looking forward to seeing our wedding photographs but nothing could prepare us for how truly wonderful and utterly breathtaking they were! We cannot thank Kate enough for capturing the best day of our lives so beautifully.”

How did you meet and fall in love?

We met online and clicked straight away! When we eventually met in person, it felt like we’d known each other for years!

What can you tell us about the proposal or decision to get married?

Toby whisked me away to Edinburgh for my birthday and proposed at the top of Edinburgh Castle. It was by far the easiest decision of my life! He is my best friend, my biggest comfort, my greatest support, my happy place…..how could I have said no!

Tell us about your experiences of finding and styling your look!

We tried to avoid websites such as Pinterest and Instagram, as we wanted our wedding to be a representation of us, and not an imitation of somebody else’s. It’s all too easy to get wrapped up in what everybody else is doing, and to aspire to something that’s unattainable!

What made you choose your venue?

Lympne Castle was one of the first venues we viewed and we instantly fell in love with its spectacular views, traditional wooden beams and rustic fireplaces…..the perfect venue for a fairytale wedding!

What influenced your decor/style/theme/colours for the day?

Spring is, without a doubt, the most beautiful time of year, so we were keen to encapsulate this in our choice of colours (buttermilk yellow and sky blue). The venue itself was also a great influencer! We were keen to retain the venue’s rustic and romantic charm and therefore kept decoration to a minimum.

How long did it take you to plan your big day?

We got engaged in December 2016, and started the planning process a couple of weeks later, just after Christmas! We were adamant we didn’t want wedding planning to take over our entire lives, so ensured we gave ourselves plenty of time.

How did you feel about the wedding planning process?

I think there’s an assumption that it’s every woman’s dream to plan a wedding but I personally found the whole experience stressful and exhausting. Despite having 18 months to organise and plan every little detail, I still found myself stuffing confetti bags at 3am the night before!

What were the highlights of your actual wedding day?

We loved every single minute of our wedding day! Our 14-year-old Labrador Jack means the world to us, and to be able to have him at our wedding was something we had always dreamed of! Having him there was certainly one of the highlights of our day!

How did your vision for the wedding match your actual day?

Throughout the planning process, it’s difficult to envisage everything coming together, but our wedding day outshone our expectations!

What other suppliers would you like to mention?

All of our suppliers did a truly fantastic job! We would, however, like to give a special mention to Walkies at Weddings and Pretty Please by Katie. Walkies at Weddings offer a wonderful service that enabled us to share our special day with our beloved dog, and we couldn’t recommend them highly enough! Pretty Please by Katie’s creation was truly stunning and was singlehandedly the most commented on aspect of the whole day! It’s fair to say that my hair had never looked so good, and probably won’t even come close to looking that good again!

How did you feel about seeing your photographs back after the wedding?

It’s fair to say we had a touch of the wedding blues once it was all over. We were so looking forward to seeing our wedding photographs, but nothing could prepare us for how truly wonderful and utterly breathtaking they were! We cannot thank Kate enough for capturing the best day of our lives so beautifully.

What advice would you give other couples planning their big day?

Be true to yourself and go with your heart! Don’t let others dictate your wedding day – invite who you want to invite, wear what you want to wear, dance how you want to dance, as then, you’ll have no regrets!

Aside from your wedding, what’s the most exciting thing that’s happened to you as a couple?

We recently bought a new house together, which has been really exciting! A new home brings new adventures and new memories, but is perhaps not one to do when planning a wedding!

How do you know you are meant to be together?

I think our best man summed it up perfectly in his speech, it’s not about finding someone you can live with, it’s about finding someone you can’t live without!

What will be your next big adventure?

Most definitely our honeymoon later this year, as we’re both using the opportunity to cross a couple of things off our bucket list! It’s been a lifelong ambition of mine to go to New York, and for Toby, to go to a desert island with white sandy beaches and crystal clear waters!
