Wedding | Grace & Jack | The Pines Calyx
“Kate recently photographed our wedding and wow!
Hiring Kate turned out the be the best decision we made for the day because she has just been fantastic. I cannot recommend Kate highly enough.
Throughout the whole lead up to the wedding, during the day and following the wedding Kate has made us feel so relaxed and reassured and has been a pleasure to work with.
The photos captured by Kate and her assistant Amanda are beautiful and are exactly what we were looking for. If you’re looking for a Kent-based photographer, please check Kate out, because she is amazing.”

How did you meet and fall in love?
We met at school! We had just turned 17 when we met at Sixth Form and that was that! We’ve been together for just over 9 years, so through Sixth Form, throughout University at different ends of the country and beyond!
What made you choose your venue(s)?
We loved our venue, The Pines Calyx. It is light and airy with beautiful views of the sea. The gardens around it are also stunning and we loved the fact that the building is so environmentally friendly. We wanted to have a lovely day celebrating with family and friends, but the fact that we could do this in a building that’s giving back to the environment made it even more special to us.
How did you feel about the wedding planning process?
The wedding planning process was so much fun! It was 2 years between our engagement and our wedding day which meant we had plenty of time to get things booked in and ready. As our venue is very white and airy we decided to have lots of little details for the day which meant Grace was able to get creative!
What were the highlights of your actual wedding day?
There are too many! We loved having all of our family in one place – everyone lives all over the country so it’s never happened before! Our main highlights have to include the ramblers having a walk around the venue whilst we were mid-ceremony, the speeches as they were on a whole other level, the giant deck chair and sweet cart that Grace’s Dad made were a huge hit, the bouquet toss with the action man catch which led to one of our guests ending up in the bushes and our guests all really ‘going for it’ on the dancefloor! Our day was filled with fun and laughter, which is exactly how we wanted it and Kate and Amanda managed to capture this all so perfectly.
What other suppliers would you like to mention?
Our family friend, Tina, made our cake and it was exceptional! It was exactly what we had in mind! Our florist, Joanne at BuyArrangement created our ceremony room flowers and table flowers which were stunning. Got to also mention the Mother of the Bride who created the most beautiful bouquets for the Bride and Bridesmaids (plus an extra bouquet for the bouquet toss which was a last minute genius decision!) We can’t recommend our venue highly enough too – The Pines Calyx is such a beautiful venue and Yolanda, Max and Karen made the day so special for us and were outstanding.
Also the Bride and Bridesmaids Hair Stylist and
artists were incredible. They made the Bridal party feel amazing, so we have to mention Claire Hartley Stylist and Emilie Morrissey and her assistant Jade for their amazing work! Lastly, our videographer Katie Tulip (recommended by Kate!) has created the most incredible videos for us and has captured the day perfectly! We are so overwhelmed by all of the incredible suppliers we had on the day! We also had Choice DJ for our music and dancefloor and Gigglebooth for our photobooth – both of which were amazing. Make Up
What advice would you give other couples planning their big day?
Enjoy it! It goes so quickly so before you know it, it’s your wedding day! We’d also say Excel was our saviour! We had a lot of spreadsheets going on to help us with our planning as it was a fairly DIY venue so that’s something we’d highly recommend! Also, if you’re in the right area, book Kate! Kate turned out to be the easiest decision we made for our big day – both leading up to the day, during, and after, Kate has been exceptional, and I’m not just saying that!
