How did you meet and fall in love?

First met at Gillingham services!! Jules picked me and some others up for a hockey match. We fell in love several years later over the same love of hockey!

What can you tell us about the proposal or decision to get married?

We knew really quickly we wanted to get married. Jules proposed using my grandmother’s engagement ring where we had our first date in West Malling.

Tell us about your experiences of finding and styling your look!

Being a carpenter, Jules has always loved natural woody textures and looks. This teamed perfectly with the natural rustic look I loved!

What made you choose your venue(s)?

Cooling Castle Barn. We’ve both always dreamed of getting married there!

How long did it take you to plan your big day?

Getting on for three years! We had booked the big day for 2016 at Cooling Castle Barn but postponed by two years when we decided to start our journey to have a baby (or two) first!

How did you feel about the wedding planning process?

It was pretty hectic whilst having and looking after baby twins but Jules and I love a challenge and a bit of craziness!!

What’re the highlights of your actual wedding day?

We both loved every minute. Having everyone we hold so dear all there to celebrate our love… there are no words for that. Plus the free special moments Jules and I had to ourselves… we’ll never forget those.

How did your vision for the wedding match your actual day?

The actual day outshone all our expectations.

Which other suppliers would you like to mention?

Our drag artist, Tiffaney Wells, certainly started the evening off with a bang! Christine Felsted who made our amazing cake!

How did you feel about seeing your photographs back after the wedding?

So excited and lovely to see snapshots of the day that we didn’t see at the time. Everyone’s experience of our wedding would have been slightly different so it was lovely to get a glimpse of that.

What advice would you give other couples planning their big day?

Go with what you want, not with what you think others want you to have. It’s your big day, not theirs! We followed this with everything we did for our wedding and don’t regret a thing!

Aside from your wedding, what’s the most exciting thing that’s happened to you as a couple?

Oliver and Noah… our twins boys!

How do you know you are meant to be together?

We are so so different but just the same in so many ways. We are like two sides of the same coin!

What will be your next big adventure?

A big house move, a trip down under… and that’s just this year!!

… & Kate Says:

I loved this wedding because I felt so many connections with Cara and Julie which made capturing this day on their personal journey especially significant. If you’re looking for a same-sex wedding photographer in Kent or beyond, I’d love to chat with you. I’ve recently added a rainbow flag to my site to show that I welcome couples who might feel reassured, as Cara and Julie did, to know that I am fully supportive and may personally share their story…
