shabby chic wedding

We met over a coffee at Bluewater where I first learnt that Jade and John were planning something a little different than I had been expecting! I discovered that they were about to jet off to foreign shores, Tanzania in fact, to get married, where they were picturing their intimate romantic getaway in beautiful surroundings. I was wondering where I came in! Well, they had planned a UK reception to celebrate with their families and friends and wanted me to capture the occasion.

On the day, there was a very loving atmosphere and the guests were clearly excited and happy to share in their marriage celebrations! Jade looked incredible. With a simple off-the-shoulder lace dress and a stunning floral crown headdress to add some drama to her simple hair-down style, she gave off a bohemian vibe worthy of Pinterest! John was equally dashing in his beige suit, again a pleasant change from the darker colours I usually photograph grooms wearing. Together they were a picture-perfect couple and it felt like a professionally styled shoot.  The cake made by Nicola at Hall Of Cakes was totally enchanting with its delicate florals and metallic gold colouring. Loved it!

Something that worked well at Jade and John’s reception was that we had all loads of time to capture the group shots which felt more relaxed than is often the case on an actual wedding day when there is a schedule to adhere to. Consequently, we were able to have some fun with the posing and take advantage of several backdrops. My assistant was also able to spend time getting alternative angles for the group shots which adds a lovely additional dimension to the more traditional straight-on shots.

With coverage spanning four hours, we captured the spirit of the celebration over 400 photos and left Jade and John to enjoy the final few hours of the evening with their guests away from the cameras.
